Description
Located on the eastern edge of the city, the amphitheater of Lupiae dates back to the Roman period and the Augustan age. The monument is elliptical shaped with a major axis aligning east-west, and can accommodate up to 14,000 spectators. Numerous architectural and sculptural elements of the building were recovered during excavations, including a group of cup-shaped capitals and some bas-reliefs which depict scenes of venationes.
