Description

On the famous settlement of Canne of the Battaglia, a hill rises in thevalleyofLower   Ofantothat was home of the famous battle between the Romans and Carthaginians (216 BC). Surrounded by massive walls for several centuries, Canne now offers visitors a long and fascinating journey through the Antiquarium, Roman, early Christian and medieval remains of on the "citadel," and the ancient village of “daunio” with the cemetery in Fontanella. The archaeological material gathered in the Antiquarium documents the long continuity of life from prehistoric to the Middle Ages of Canne.
